 Painting Department


Painting Department of Fine Arts Faculty in Suleyman Demirel University started giving education in 1994-95 academic year. The aim of the department is to educate qualified nominated artists and art lovers. As required by the academicism, the education programme of this department is formed according to the modern developments in visual arts.  


The students who are given an instruction of Basic Art Education, Design, Perspective and General Art History during their first year, take courses of Designing From A Model, Painting Workshop, Analysis of Artworks, Contemporary Art Review, Sociology of Art, Esthetics, Turkish Art of Painting during the following years. Among the facultative subjects are Printmaking, Mural Painting, Seramic and Sculpture. Moreover, theoretical courses are also provided intensively alongside of applied courses in order to create students who are able to develop their own artistic attitude and expression.   


Therefore, the object of the department is to encourage students to manifest their proper creative powers, to raise them with sufficient awareness indicating the fact that visual and mental skills are ameliorated by research-production process and contemporary ideas, and to make them become individuals who have a certain esthetic sensitivity.


Throughout the education period, students’ works meet with spectators from the university, from the city where the university is situated and from other cities around. Academic personals and students of the department which has a dual education agreement with so many universities abroad,  participate in studies about their areas for their self-improvement purposes and in the universities they’re gone to, they exchange ideas and knowledge. Besides this, students attend to national and international expositions and triennial festivals.   


Alumni of the Painting Department may work as freelance artist, art consultant, academic personal in research and education intitutions of fine arts, responsible of facultative subjects and art classes. This department of the University of Suleyman Demirel accept 10 students each year.
