Sustainability and Recycling Themed Workshop Held at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Fine Arts
Süleyman Demirel University (SDU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Textile and Fashion Design, organized a workshop on sustainability and recycling. The workshop emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in textile and fashion design and included practical exercises on how to creatively utilize recycled materials. The event focused on the reuse of waste materials and environmentally friendly design approaches. The workshop, planned as part of the training of trainers, was held with the participation of SDU staff and faculty.

Workshop leader Dr. Lecturer Muazzez Çetiner said, “As in almost every field, sustainability in the fashion industry is one of the most important issues today. For a radical change to occur in the fashion industry, which is the most damaging to the planet after the petrochemical industry, it is crucial that consumers demand sustainable products. This demand will be realized through pioneering designers and highly aware users. In the workshop, we aimed to create new designs using recycling and redesign techniques through a participatory design approach.”
At the end of the workshop, the designs produced by the participants using recycling techniques were evaluated. At the event, sustainability, consumption, and design were discussed among faculty members.
