Art of Calligraphy
The Department of Calligraphy has started to accept students in the 2019-2020 academic year. The existence of civilizations, their knowledge and their transfer to the next generations has been possible through writing. Nations that left written works have taken place in the memory of humanity, others have disappeared. The Art of Calligraphy is a branch of art with its own aesthetic rules and is capable of representing our civilization alone. The Art of Calligraphy is used in the writing of many works such as religious, scientific, literary works and prayer books, kıta, murakkaa, plate, mosque writings, inscription, tuğra, berat, decree, hilye, especially mushafs. It can also be applied on tiles, wood, metal, stone, textiles and countless materials.
Department graduates are entitled to receive a bachelor's degree and artist title. Graduates can open their own workshops as calligraphers, as well as work as art consultants in private and public institutions, as experts in the maintenance and repair of old works in museums, libraries and archives. They can work as a designer in factories or workshops that produce in the fields of traditional arts. They can be academic staff in universities and research institutions. They can work as master instructors in private and public institutions, as well as as a researcher in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism or as a staff member in the relevant units of the General Directorate of Fine Arts. They can be Visual Arts teachers at the Ministry of Education.
